Movie Review of Mintu Guru Durusaria’s bio pic “Dakuaan Da Munda” Director : Mandeep Benipal Starring : Dev Kharoud, Jagjit Sandhu, Pooja Verma, Sukhdeep Sukh, Kuljinder Sidhu & Anita Meet Special Appearance : Keeya Khanna Ratings : **** (4/5) Synopsis : The film is based on the acclaimed book, Dakkuan da Munda, an autobiography of the famous writer and journalist Mintu Gurusariya. Mintu became a drug addict when he was a young Kabbadi player. Exposure to drugs also introduced him to the crime market. But today, he is an inspiration for the youth and their families as he managed to come out of his shell and break his ties with crime. What’s Good: Stunning Performance by Dev Kharoud & Jagjeet Sandhu, Positive message in the end for our society specially for youth What’s Bad: Almost Nothing Watch or Not?  In over more than two hours, the film manages to to patch up its hovels and vindicate the negatives quite effortlessly. Director Mandeep Benipal’s this flick should be seen by ever one, who wants to a make a better society.

Star Performances :

Dev Kharoud is terrific in role of mintu gurusaria, he lives with the role on screen, in not even a single frame u cant say that he is not a drug addicted & after transformation u cant say no one is innocent like him. His expressions, dialogue deliver every is at top notch level. Jagjit Sandhu what an fine performer he is, he comes in lime light after his role in rupinder gandhi as bhola. now he has established himself as an matured actor, his performance in film is mind blowing. Sukhdeep Sukh as sibling of mintu is good at acting. Lead actress ‘Pooja Verma’ which is coming  after Baaz with babbu maan, her chemistry with dev is amazing,  In a role of college going student you will find her like a college going girl, her expressions, acting  everything is just a treat to watch her on screen. Jagjeet sandhu (as bhau) has delivered another brilliant performance after rocky mental. Two more performances here are i want to mention here one is by anita meet ( as mintu’s mother) it could be a award winning performance by her, outstanding!! Second one is by hardip Gill (as mintu’s father) what a performance man!! you has lived with the character!! In short role rana jang bahadar will keep u entertain as usually he does, nothing much to do for kuljinder sidhu in this movie but in short he has delivered a power packed performance.

Direction, Editing and Screenplay :

There is no doubt over technical aspects about Mandeep Benipal, he is such a brilliant director which he has proved in his earlier films, in this movie you will see mandep’s work at next level. His style of story telling will keep you engage on screen till climax.Specially a mother-son scene will bring tears, also force to understand how drug addiction is destroying our youth. Inderpal Singh Screen play will keep u engaged till climax of movie, although it has some flaws but it could be ignore. Music & Background : Music of the film is already on top of charts whether ‘Marzi De Faisle’ or romantic track ‘pyar’ or inspiring track ‘Zindagi’ all tracks are top notch’s, music given by Qaistrax,  Laddi Gill & byg brd (For Promotional Track ‘Dollar’) Promotional track ‘Dollar’ in voice of Sidhu Moose wala which was released few days ago before movie release, is creating buzz in every car around you, parties & discotheque’s. Now comes to background, which manages to lift the momentum in parts, Salil Amrute knows about the pulse of punjabi audience, how to engage them on screen, awesome!! Editing by Bharat Rwat is strictly ok, as this film is bio pic which has many event & incidents but bharat has done splendid job to club them all in a amazing on screen presentation. Final Words : Dakuaan Da Munda is a struggle story of a person who comes in lime light after almost nothing in his hand, You should watch this movie with your entire family & friends it will give you strong message that life is so short we should live life to maintain love for us & others.
