Lahore 1947 is set to release in cinemas on August 13, 2026, during the Independence Day week. The historical period drama is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and stars Sunny Deol in the lead.
The film marks a first-time collaboration between Sunny Deol, director Rajkumar Santoshi, and producer Aamir Khan. It is based on Professor Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai and is set against the backdrop of the Partition of India, focusing on loss, resilience, and humanity.
Aamir Khan described the project as special, saying it was one of Dharmendra’s favourite scripts, adding emotional value to the film. The ensemble cast includes Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, and Ali Fazal. Music is composed by A R Rahman, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
Following the success of Border 2, Lahore 1947 sees Sunny Deol returning to large-scale patriotic cinema, while Preity Zinta makes her comeback to the big screen after a long break. With strong creative names attached, expectations from the film remain high ahead of Independence Day 2026.
