Times Music, a division of The Times Group, has announced the acquisition of legendary Punjabi label Catrack Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.. This marks the company’s third major catalogue buyout since partnering with Primary Wave Music and significantly strengthens its classic Punjabi music portfolio for global discovery and monetisation.

Founded in 1990, Catrack played a pivotal role in shaping Punjabi music’s defining era. Its “golden era” catalogue features icons such as Babbu Maan, Malkit Singh, Channi Singh and Dolly Singh, while also backing early voices like Manmohan Waris, Surjit Khan and Sukhwinder Panchhi. With enduring cultural relevance and a strong digital footprint, the catalogue opens up fresh opportunities across sync licensing, film and OTT placements, brand collaborations, and modern reinterpretations.

The deal follows Times Music’s earlier acquisitions of ARC Musicq and Symphony Recording Co., underscoring its reputation as a decisive and trusted catalogue partner.

Vineet Jain, Managing Director, The Times Group, said, “We have always championed voices that define India’s cultural fabric. With Catrack joining Times Music, we reaffirm our commitment to preserving and amplifying the rich heritage of Punjabi music for audiences worldwide.”

Mandar Thakur, CEO, Times Music, added, “The Catrack catalogue is a cultural treasure that defined an era for Punjabi music lovers. This acquisition strengthens our mission to preserve and re-energise India’s most iconic music and artists.”

Gaurav Trehan, Director, Catrack Entertainment, noted, “Times Music is an ideal partner to carry forward Catrack’s legacy. The integrity and speed with which they concluded this acquisition is commendable.”

David Loiterton, President (Indo & Asia Pacific), Primary Wave Music, said, “Catrack represents the kind of iconic music IP that transcends generations and cultures. We’re excited to help Times Music introduce this repertoire to new audiences around the world.”
