A number of Punjabi movies got pushed forward owing to the pandemic. Though each one of the movies was important and special in its own way, there were a number of projects that the audiences were really looking forward to. Take a look at list of movies which will be on your priority list to watch:
‘Warning’
Warning, a web series streamed last year, which not only started a web revolution in Punjab but also opened a new audience market for the filmmakers. Gippy Grewal produced warning-web series set new viewership records and the gripping storyline glued people to their seats. From its storyline, production design, acting excellence everything just raised a bar for Punjabi entertainment world.
After massive response to web series, makers decided to make feature film on the same.Teaser of this movie is already out now.
Release date of the this movie is yet to reveal.
Puadaa’
Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Puadaa’ was scheduled to release in the first half of 2020. Bringing back the popular ‘Nikka Zaildar’ pair – Ammy and Sonam, the movie added to the anticipation levels of the audience right from the word go. The movie was supposed to release on June 12th, but now reportedly it will be released as Valentine’s treat – Feb 12, 2021.
‘Maa’
The shoot of Gippy Grewal’s ‘Maa’ went on the floors just before the lockdown was imposed. Starring Gippy Grewal, Babbal Rai, Aarushi Sharma, Divya Dutta, and more, the movie was supposed to bring a very emotional tale on the big screen. In the movie, Babbal Rai was roped in to play the part of a sportsperson, for which he underwent a physical transformation, and turned heads. However, the movie was pushed forward and it will now be releasing on May 7th.
‘Jodi’
In 2020 Diljit Dosanjh was supposed to entertain his Punjabi fans with the movie ‘Jodi’. Despite his popularity in Bollywood now, Diljit makes sure that to do at least one Punjabi film every year, and in 2020 it was supposed to be ‘Jodi’. Starring him and Nimrat Khaira, the movie was a sweet tale of love and emotions which has now been pushed forward until further notice.
‘Sohreyan Da Pind Aa Gaya’
Directed by Ksshitij Chaudhary and produced and bankrolled by Ankit Vijan, Navdeep Narula and Gurjit Singh. The film made under the banner of Shri Narotam Ji Films Production and New Era Films, stars Gurnam Bhullar and Sargun Mehta.
The principal photography began on 13 September 2019 in Ganganagar, Rajasthan.Initially scheduled for release on 29 May 2020, the film was indefinitely postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now this film will release in first half of 2021.
‘Main viah ni karona tere naal’
Written and directed by Rupinder Inderjeet, the movie was initially slated to release this year in September. However, owing to the pandemic, the same has been postponed.
It will be Diamond star worldwide movies presentation.

‘Paani Ch Madhaani’
Gippy Grewal’s highly-anticipated Punjabi film co-starring Neeru Bajwa titled Paani Ch Madhaani’ is scheduled for valentine week (12th February 2021) release.
‘Golgappe’
The film stars Binnu Dhillon, Rajat Bedi, Ihana Dhillon & Navneet Dhillon in the main roles and B.N. Sharma will be seen playing a vital role as well. ‘Golgappe’ is directed by Smeep Kang THE KING OF COMEDY and the project is being produced by Deepak Mukut, Ilaa Bedi Dutta, Manik Bedi, Bunty Raghav and Vikas Agarwal.
This film was scheduled for 10th April 2020, now this film release in first half of 2021
‘Galwakdi’
Tarsem Jassar & Wamiqa Gabbi starrer this drama is already a awaited film. Directed by sharan art who has directed “Rabb Da Radio 2”.
It’s Vehli Janta Films & Omjee star studios presentation.
Dakuaan Da Munda 2: previous instalment of this movie was the second highest Punjabi film of 2018 after Carry On Jatta 2 & sixth highest of all time. Now dakuuan da munda second instalment is releasing in 2021 starring dashing dev kharoud, japji khaira, nishwan bhullar, directed by Mandeep benipal.
Release date of the movie is yet to reveal. It’s produced by dream reality movies & omjee star studios.
‘Sharrek 2’
Jimmy Sheirgill & mahie gill starrer first instalment of the movie was released in the year 2015. Now sharrek 2 also has Dev Kharoud, which has his huge fam following among youngsters. Sharan Kaur is also playing the lead female in this movie.
Directed by Navniat Singh, ‘Shareek 2’ is being bankrolled under the banners of Ohri Production, White Hill Studios and Thind Motion Film.
‘Phatte dinde Chakk Punjabi’
Starring Gippy Grewal, Neeru Bajwa, Annu Kapoor & various famous comedians of Pakistan. The comedy film is slated to release next year on July 16, 2021.

‘Golak Bugni Bank te Batua 2’
Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua’ starring Harish Verma and Simi Chahal in the lead.The first part was based on the demonetization, while the sequel’s theme hasn’t been disclosed. However, the cast is the same. Previous part was directed by Ksshithij Vhaudhary, but this part is being directed by Janjot Singh.

‘Qismat 2’
