Power of OTT in India

The power of OTT (Over-the-Top) in India lies in its ability to cater to changing viewer preferences and consumption habits, offering a vast and diverse category of convenient and personalized content. The industry is likely to continue growing as more players enter the market with technological advancements.

We have OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime that have been in the market for a long time. Recently, actor Vicky Kaushal, known for his roles in films like Sam Bahadur and Dunki, mentioned in a YouTube channel interview that his film Masaan, which was released in 2015, gained much more popularity on OTT than in the theatres.

In another interview on YouTube, Kareena Kapoor Khan said that OTT has elevated the level of her performance, which she felt during the time of “Jab We Met”. Her debut film on OTT, ‘Jaane Jaan’ was watched by a large number of viewers.

Platforms like Chaupal, where you can watch new films and web series in Punjabi, Haryanvi, Bhojpuri, and Rajasthani, have gained much popularity since their inception in 2021. It’s interesting to note that 70% of these films are released on the OTT platform Chaupal itself.

Prince Kanwaljit, who has worked on projects like Panchhi, Outlaw, and Zila Sangrur, commented, “OTT platforms like Chaupal have given a boost to my career. With my offbeat roles like Pargat in Panchhi, or Jeet in Outlaw, I have reached new heights in my career that were not possible before OTT was a thing. With OTT, more and more people have seen and appreciated my work. I am now working as a writer in the web series “Plaster”, which will also be available for you to watch on Chaupal.”

A well-known singer, director, and actor Parmish Verma said, “OTT has become an essential part of our lives. Whether it’s a TV show or film, we all use OTT all the time. My first Punjabi thriller web series ‘Silence’ will soon be on the OTT platform Chaupal. If there wasn’t an increase in the popularity of web series and OTT platforms, my dream of working in a web series wouldn’t have been possible.”

Chaupal’s Chief Content Officer Nitin Gupta commented, “We live in an era where daily entertainment consumption has become a mainstay. We want to use content that is immersive as well as entertaining. Going to cinemas after the release of a film has been a part of our social life. Now with OTT, we also have web series that you can watch comfortably at home. Chaupal is such an OTT where premium and new regional content can be streamed. This platform has not only given new actors a chance to showcase their talent but also provided a platform for those established actors who were big names in the industry at some point, to make a comeback.”

On Chaupal, you can watch all new and popular films and web series in three languages Punjabi, Haryanvi, and Bhojpuri. Some new content includes Boohe Bariyaan, Shikari, Kali Jotta, Carry On Jatta 3, Outlaw, Panchhi, Aaja Mexico Chaliye, and many other films and web series. Chaupal is an entertainment app where you can download and watch films and web series without any interruption and create more than one profile. On Chaupal, you can enjoy unlimited entertainment anytime and anywhere throughout the year without any interruption.
