The Chant album ‘Mystic Mirror’ has won the ‘Best New Age Album’ award at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. The album includes three shabads from the Guru Granth Sahib, which Sri Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru, wrote.

The White Sun Band won the Grammy in the category of new age, ambient, or chant. Adam Berry, Gurujas Kaur Khalsa, and Harijiwan make up the band.

“Akhan jor chupai nahi jor” and “Pawan guru paani pita” are two shabads from Guru Nanak’s “Jap” album. The third shabad chosen from Guru Granth Sahib is “Naam niranjan neer Nara- yan,” written in Raag by Guru Arjan Dev. The album starts with “Garden” an experimental journey that is followed by ballads and pop songs before concluding with a female-only choir.

The Trio took to the stage and accepted their award. Gurujas said, “Thank you so much to the Academy; I’m going to cry. Thank you to everyone who helped create this album, thank you to our producers. Standing with you guys is such a privilege and honor. With that comes more responsibility to bring love and kindness to Planet Earth.”

The Band previously won the Grammy Award for ‘New Age Album’ for their album ‘White Sun II’ in 2017.
