Good news for moviegoers! After a seven- month long hiatus, movie theatres are opening from October 15, 2020. With cinemas halls opening their gates, there are a few big Bollywood films that are scheduled to re-release this week. Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khanâs 2018 film Kedarnath, Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khanâs period drama Tanhaji, Ayushmann Khurranaâs Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Taapsee Pannuâs Thappad, Disha Patani, Aditya Roy Kapur âs Malang and Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroffâs action flick War are all set to re-release in theatres.
Trade Analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and shared a list of films that will again see the light of the day. He tweeted, âAs cinemas ready to reopen their doors from this week onwards, the list of Hindi films scheduled for re-release this week is officially announced⊠Tanhaji, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Malang, Kedarnath, and Thappad. More films will be scheduled in coming daysâ.

Besides, Bollywood films, movie theatres will also be re-releasing some of the prominent punjabi films. These films are Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwaâs Muklawa, Gippy Grewalâs Carry On Jatta 2, Amrinder Gillâs Chal Mera Putt 1 and Diljit Dosanjhâs Sardar Ji 2.
As per the new unlock 5 guidelines, theatres and multiplexes will be allowed to open from October 15. Auditoriums, however, will be allowed to operate with only 50 percent. From installing and using Aarogya Setu App to sanitising the hall after every show, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has released Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which need to be followed by all cinema halls and multiplexes.
On a related note, multiplex chains including, PVR, INOX, Carnival and Cinepolis have decided to not screen few of the films, released on online video streaming platforms during the cornavirus induced lockdown.
These films include late actor Sushant Singh Rajputâs last film Dil Bechara, Vidya Balanâs Shakuntala Devi, Amitabh Bachchanâs Gulabo Sitabo, Khuda Haafiz, Sadak 2 and biopic Gunjan Saxena :The Kargil Girl.
Needless to say, filmgoers can now heave a sigh of relief.
