An upcoming Punjabi movie, ‘Afsar’ is slated to release on Octo ber 5, 2018.The director of this movie is ‘Gulshan Singh’ who had assisted ‘Anurag Basu’
in ‘Barfi’ and worked as an associate director in ‘Bambukat’, ‘Channa Mereya’ and ‘Sajjan Singh Rangroot’. Now he is coming up with his own movie ‘Afsar’.
The title ‘Afsar’ is based on the supposed prestige in being a government employee. This movie depicts the craving of people regarding getting government
jobs and prestige which comes along with it.
The movie is starring ‘Tarsem Jassar’, who plays the role of a Kunungo, but according to the people around him, only becoming a ‘Patwari’ is something
praiseworthy. The significance of being a patwari is explained comically well, when his beloved insists him on being a Patwari rather than a Kanungo.
The female lead, Nimrat Khaira will be seen opposite to the Tarsem Jassar, after having made her debut in ‘Lahoriya’ last year. She is playing the role of
a government school teacher.The other characters in this movie will be Gurpreet Ghuggi, Rana Jung Bahadur, Pukhraj Bhalla and others. Karamjit Anmol is also
playing a major part in the movie and explaining why becoming a Patwari is way better than becoming a Kanungo.
The script and screenplay of this movie have been written by Jass Grewal, who is an eminent writer of Punjabi industry.
