Simpy Singh (Manreet) have worked in various Bollywood and Punjabi films.
Born in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, this beauty with brains has created a niche for herself in both Bollywood and Pollywood. Her journey started with theatre in Chandigarh. One of her initial plays Leather Coat gained her a lot of appreciation. Fortunately within few days her poignant acting skills landed her a cameo in a Hollywood movie West is West that featured veteran actors such as Om Puri, Illa Arun etc.
Later she delved into few Punjabi music videos. It was followed by doing anchoring for channels such as Fastway, Punjab Plus and MH1. Her versatility as an actor is visible from the fact that the actor even then did a Marathi movie called Jai Maharashtra Dhaba Bathinda.
Coming to her Pollywood projects, she acted in Punjabi movie called Yamley Jatt Yamley followed by playing the role of Gurpreet Ghuggi’s girlfriend in Smeep Kang’s Lucky Di Unlucky Story featuring Gippy Grewal, Surveen Chawla, Gurpreet Ghuggi and Jacky Shroff. She has also played an essential role in Jatt Airways that casted singer turned actor Alfaaz and Tulip Joshi in it. And once again the diva showed her acting skills in Punjabi film, Jatt in Mood where she played the lead role.
In 2013, Simpy won many hearts by playing the character of Madona in another punjabi movie , Yaaran da Katchup that starred Varun Sharma, Hardy Sandhu, Anita Hassandani, Yuvika Chaudhary, Jaswinder Bhalla, B.N. Sharma, Rana Ranbir.
Besides the silver screen, most of us would have noticed her on the small screen. Yes! You are right; she’s the same Wagon R girl whom you saw in the Wagon R TV commercial that features Bollywood actor R Madhawan, Rodies fame Raghu and Rajiv.
Her stint is Bollywood films has managed to get her the well deserved fame. In Amisha Patel’s Production Desi Magic that stars Zayed Khan, Sahil Shiroff and Amisha Patel, she is seen playing Amisha Patel’s sister.
The proud moment came for her when her promising acting skills once again landed her a project in Anurag Kashyap’s production which is directed by a Hollywood director known for films like No Man’s Land. She has recently shot a character in the same by an Oscar winning Bosnian filmmaker, Danis Tanovic featuring Bollywood actors such as Emraan Hashmi, Geetanjali Thapa, Supriya Pathak and Adil Hussain.
This patakha gudhi has even shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor in his upcoming movie Tamasha which is directed by Imitiaz Ali.
Debuting in Hindi cinema with upcoming youth oriented film “love shagun” directed by sandesh nayak (releasing this year)
