Starring : Amrinder Gill, Sargun Mehta, Yograj Singh, Binnu Dhillon, Manveer, Rana Ranbir

Special Appearance : Harj Nagra

Rating : ****(4/5)

Run Time : 130 Minutes

What’s Good:The unfeigned laughs, Amrinder and Sargun mostly the indelible realism that conjures up the crux of the story.

What’s Bad: Nothing

Watch or Not?  In over more than two hours, the film manages to to patch up its hovels and vindicate the negatives quite effortlessly. Goes without saying that Rajiv quite succeeds in sending us home with many heartfelt laughs and an extensively enjoyable time. The pulsating chemistry of Amrinder and Sargun makes this one a hard to miss indulgence of sorts!

The story revolves around the impact of an upcoming divorce on a young child and the lengths his parents will go to preserve his innocence.
Lead stars, Amrinder Gill and Sargun Mehta play parents to Manvir Johal, a 12 year old second generation Canadian Indian who is still coming to terms with understanding his heritage and Indian roots while growing up in a foreign land. Like most kids of colour, he is a victim of racism at school however home is no better with his parents constant arguing. The tension and anxiety on both sides of his life leads Manvir to suffer a nervous breakdown with his parents unable to cope with his change in behaviour.
Eventually, grasping for a solution, his father announces they are all going to Punjab, India to help the child understand his heritage and his homeland. However before their arrival, the boy’s relatives in Punjab transform the village with a huge ‘western’ makeover, while still attempting to hold on to all that makes Punjab great.
Love Punjab is a story that will resonate with every Indian diaspora family who work hard at holding on to their roots and ensuring their children grow up with every benefit of the west. It shows you how far a family will go to make their child happy and that marriages can only succeed through love and hard work. But most of all, it will reveal that home is truly where the heart is.

Movie Review :

Star Performances :

Amrinder Gill picks up a role perhaps quite different from what he seems to be and plays it to perfection in every frame. It is quite a challenge for an actor to master what isn’t his forte and Amrinder is genuinely flawless in this role.

Sargun Mehta’s irresistible enigma is what lures me about her. She makes even the nagging Trisha endearing and only an actress of her caliber can bring so many hues to a character which has the maximum risk of getting termed as caricature.Love Punjab has Amrinder-Sargun, Yograj-Nirmal Rishi’s uttering dialogues that are guaranteed to make the audience erupt in appreciative applause.

Yograj Singh, Nirmal Rishi, Harbir has given outstanding performances.Nothing much to do for Binnu Dhillon & Rana Ranbir in their short roles.

 Direction, Editing and Screenplay :

The director (Rajiv Dhingra) strikes a fine balance between humour and emotion in this slice-of-marriage story. He manages to have us rolling with laughter in the first half bouncing our way rapid and quick laughs. After a point my jaws began to pain from all the haha. Following any other rulebook on marriage and relationships would have helped him get his way through this sloppily conceptualized story which has the regular rom-com ingredients. Thankfully for him, the film’s magical casting worked out in his favor or it could have turned its wind towards being shallow.

Screenplay of the movie is so engaging it will keep you stuck with your seats till end.Hatt`s off to Amberdeep for Such a brilliant script, engaging script & Dialogues.

Cinematography by Navneet Misser is a treat to watch

Music : Jatinder Shah has given melodies music in movie as well as background music by him has added advantage to movie.

The Last Word

I never feel the need to justify my ratings and reviews but this time I feel I owe to this film and my readers. Frankly, I love the the film. It was gripping and taut, though unoriginal, I thought it was magnificently done. The vivid and sparkling chemistry of Amrinder and Sargun manage to hold you through tight and still.Every aspect of movie Direction, Action, Screenplay, Music & Dialogues are treat to watch.Go & enjoy this masterpiece with your family & friends.
