Veteran film actor Satish Kaul to be shifted to Mumbai

The Innovative Artist Welfare Association has come to the rescue of veteran Punjabi film actor Satish Kaul, 70, who is fighting for his life in a private hospital in Patiala, Punjab. The members of the association had met the actor on Monday and offered him a financial help of Rs 70,000, along with an assurance to have him shifted to Mumbai.

“He had suffered multiple injuries and a hip bone fracture, following a fall in his bathroom in July 2014. The association will shift him to Mumbai, and will arrange for accommodation and work for him after he is discharged from the hospital,” Daljit Kaur, president of the Innovative Artist Welfare Association, said.

Apart from the Theatre Artists’ Association, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has also announced a financial help of Rs 2.5 lakh to the actor, who has been facing hardships and hadn’t been able to pay his medical bills.
Mr. Kaul is now dependent on the hospital staff. Ironically, his fans and friends have also turned their backs on him. According to sources, the person who had admitted the actor to the hospital four months ago also did not turn up again.

Satish Kaul has acted in over 300 films, out of which, he has played the lead role in 85 feature films. He was also seen in some Bollywood films like Prem Parbat, Warrant, Karma, Gunaho Ka Faisla, Bhakti Me Shakti, Dance-Dance, Ram-Lakhan and Pyar To Hona Hi Tha. He was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by a Punjabi television channel in 2013.

A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India’s (FTII) 1969 batch, Satish Kaul was born on September 8,1954 in Kashmir. Bollywood actors Jaya Bachchan, Shatrugan Sinha, Zarina Wahab, Danny Denzongpa, Asha Sachdeva and Om Puri were his batch-mates at FTII.
