One of the leading make-up artists of the Punjabi film industry, Geet Brar, was found shot dead on in a secluded location near Star Enclave Colony in Punjab’s Rajpura town, adjoining the local industrial focal point. Body of the 25-year-old was spotted by some locals on Tuesday night and they reported the matter to the police.
A case under Section 302 of the IPC has been registered by the Rajpura police against unidentified persons and the matter is being investigated. There is no information about her killers or the motive for her murder.
The police said Geet’s body was found near a local gurdwara on a road that connects Star Enclave Colony to the local industrial focal point. “We were informed on Tuesday night around 11 pm about the dead body. The cops did not find much along the victim’s body, but later they managed to establish her identity,” said HS Virk, superintendent of police.
During preliminary investigation, the police spotted three firearm injuries — one on the victim’s forehead, another in her neck and the third bullet mark was seen in her chest, according to sources. The weapon used in the murder could be a .32 bore pistol, which was used to fire at the victim from a close range, the sources added.
The Chandigarh-based make-up artist’s body was found in a pool of blood and from evidence that has been collected so far the investigators feel the young woman is likely to have been shot dead at the spot itself. The sources said the investigators did not think Geet was shot dead at some other place and her body was later dumped at the spot by her assailants.
Rajpura DSP KK Panthey said after being informed about the body, a team of police officers reached the spot and took the body to the local civil hospital for a post-mortem examination. He said a police team also visited the victim’s Sector 40 residence in Chandigarh to gather additional clues to help them crack the case.
