The 5th Edition of Global Indian Film Festival was held at the Classique Club, Mumbai, on 25th November. The grand event was attended by filmmakers and actors from all over the country. The event was organized by Green Chillies Motion Pictures, a production house based in Mumbai, which also runs a Hindi Satellite and Cable TV channel called Green Chillies TV.
The daylong event showcased premium festival films, which was attended by filmmakers, editors, actors and cinema students. This was followed by the inaugural ceremony which started with a classical Odissi performance by renowned dancer Rachita Atibudhi. The Festival Chairperson Dr. Sharmila Banerjee then gave her welcome address, and spoke about the event happening physically after two years, and about Green Chillies TV showcasing world class cinema from all over the globe. The event also held a panel discussion on “Evolution of Content Post the OTT Boom”, which included famous names like Producer Utpaal Acharya, Suraj Singh and Amit Singh. GIFF gave away 50 awards in this season, for all genres of content such as fiction, documentaries, student films, ads etc. The event concluded with Festival Director and Actor Aditya Banerjee giving the closing note, and also announcing that the next edition of Global Indian Film Festival will be held soon.
