It’s a moment of pride for the Punjabi film fraternity and the audience as our very own docudrama , “The Saviour : Brig Pritam Singh” has achieved nationwide recognition by being nationally celebrated amongst the pioneers of indian cinema at the 68th National Film Awards.
Produced by Karanvir Singh Sibia, this project was written and directed by Dr Paramjeet Singh Kattu.Sibia , on his visit to poonch was besotted with the valour and bravery of Pritam Singh and henceforth, made it his personal mission to bring forth the unapplauded and unhailed contribution of Pritam singh towards the nation.
Covering the time-frame amidst second world war, this 80 minutes documentary illustrates the brave unsung warrior, Brig Pritam Singh. As Sibia quotes , ‘Brig Pritam Singh is one little-known hero of the first Indian warthe true savior of Poonch, whose story needed to be shared with our generation and the future one.’
Carrying the legacy forward, this award has therefore, got the spotlights bright and clear over our “Daler Gabru” Pritam Singh and has opened doors to masses to learn about him now. Out of the masses, several communities have come forth seeking justice for the late soul.
Talking about our docudrama, its one of a kind under its category. In a nutshell, its a 80 minute rollercoaster of emotions and action wherein the very talented , Dhanveer singh who very beautifully enacted Pritam Singh ,is henceforth, seen leading the 1 PARA Kumaon regiment which has produced brave army personals. 1 PARA kumaon fought the first battle with Pakistan Army , battle of Shelatang on November 7, 1947 and they were able to recapture Baramullah, Uri, and later moved to Poonch with just 419 troops and liberated 600 miles of area, from invaders from across the border, and saved the lives of over 55,000 refugees.
Other instances of Indian Army’s bravery and victorious rebels have been glorified beautifully in the same. To furthermore glorify our mascot, Highly designated sikhs of Shri Harmandir Sahib, released a beautiful portrait of the former on April 12,2022.
As we all know, these National Awards stand amidst one of the highest recognised attributes in the country, and coming to Punjab, the team had made us nothing but Proud! Punjabi industry has taken a high road towards manufacturing projects which stand only of commercial value , falling which, our golden archives of unsung rich punjabi heritage and folklores are still covered with dust. Producers should try to invest and market projects as such for our youth and cinema to forever cherish the gems our golden land has produced.
