‘Maa Boli Lae Chaupal’- an initiative that takes over the streets of Punjab to promote our Punjabi language.

“Punjabi- mere dil di zubaan, mere mann di shaan.”

International Language Day, which is celebrated every year on the 21st of February, is an occasion that must be celebrated to promote our local languages that make our cultural heritage so rich.

To celebrate the occasion, Chaupal OTT organized a lively rally called ‘Punjabi Jagruti March’ along the streets of Punjab, starting from Phagwara and ending in Mohali. The route passed through several cities including Banga, Nawanshahr, Balachor, Roopnagar, Ropar, Kurali, and Kharar.  The rally aimed to highlight the cultural importance of the Punjabi language to the community. A hundred cars participated in the rally, adorned with flags and placards displaying slogans supporting Maa Boli.

The rally stopped at the 3B2 market in Mohali, where artists engaged with the local audience, emphasizing the significance of our mother tongue, Punjabi. Hundreds of people attended the rally, demonstrating the people of Punjab’s strong connection with their mother tongue. To give more meaning to this rally and this day, we had Punjabi artists Kulwinder Billa, Aarushi Sharma, Bunty Bains, and Dev Kharoud present at the venue. They connected with the audience and spoke about our maa boli and how it has given meaning to their flourishing careers.

Mr. Sandeep Bansal, Founder of Chaupal, emphasized the importance of International Language Day and remarked “This day is more than just a celebration; it’s a time for deep reflection on how our mother tongue shapes our identities.
