FINALLY a good scripted and story-line film that is NOT a cookie-cutter, typical rom-com, Period punjabi movie overkilled with forced punches, but with something realistic and meaningful for us: Laado and Harnarain’s lovestory with a dash of drama and emotions ! Bravo, bravo, BRAVO Sonam Bajwa! This film deserves several rewards, most of which is Best Screenplay! What it does offer is brilliance in the name of Sonam and Ajay, some awe-inspiring shots of Sonam and Ajay and a very beautiful canvas as it is shot at exotic locales of London under the lens of Sameer Pannu, who again deserves an applause
Sonam Bajwa is at the top of her craft. Putting up with her ruthless Adab jatti look yet again, this diva is on fire!We love how her looks have been experimented with. While the subject matter is more than timely, Sameer Pannu’s creative way of drawing the audience into the world of Laddo, simultaneously shedding light on the value of emotions in the beautiful scenic views of UK was an art of a pure genius. What a sharp, cogent reminder that we all have a role to play, in finding alternatives to ignoring the daily reality of life, ignoring the reality we are forcing ourselves into.
Jind Mahi , at times, feels to be an amalgamation of some bolly-hits but at the end , in a nutshell is a film drawn forth by the force of passion.Sonam and Ajay’s jodi is nonetheless growing to be audiences favourite as sonam is seen her real self when around Ajay, reel and real. The rest of the movie is a just a highly childish man, Harnarain , trying to get a woman to love him and being highly indignant at the lack of attention she gives him, all the while taking his own fiance (Raj shoker) for granted.
Raj Shoker, on the other hand has come out to be as a very promising co-lead. Unexpectedly , the audience was amazed by her skills and beauty. Flaunting her best self, her acting is promising her some worthy roles for her future to be.
What amazes us is Gurnam Bhullar’s appearance. Gurnam who was subjected to be in guest appearance, was seen for good number of times which does not does justice to the former mentioned. Nonetheless, his poetic ruse has his fans drooling.
The movie has flavours where you’re surprised at some, sad at other but the climax draws you like no other. Although, the end is somewhat relatable but nothing as such seen in the punjabi industry.
Music – The songs of this movie have been rocking the charts long before its release but you are bound to love and appreciate the songs more after the movie. To us, now, the songs have meaning and stories to them. The songs are eargasms with a mushy feeling to the heart. There are instances when you are glued to the songs more than the movie and feel like rewinding and listening them again.
In the end, Jind Mahi is a binge watch this weekend for cinema lovers.
