With films such as Bend it like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice under her belt, British Film Director Gurinder Chadha recently revealed her desire to work with Bollywood Actor Sanjay Dutt on a Punjabi Feature Film and her upcoming musical project with Disney.
Speaking at Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Festival, Gurinder Chadha, known for making films about the lives of Indian Women and the challenges they face in modern cultures, is all set to add another feather to her cap.
Speaking at the festival, She revealed that she is set to direct an original musical film for Disney. The musical project will reportedly be about a ‘Dynamic Princess’ from Indian History. Although not much information about the project has been revealed by the makers, however, it has been reported that the project would be headed by the President of the Walt Disney Motion Picture Production, Sean Bailey, and will be produced by Lindy Goldstein.
Apart from announcing her project with Disney, She also shared her desire of making a Punjabi Feature Film starring Sanjay Dutt.
During a conversation with the media, she said, “One of my favorite actors is Sanjay Dutt. I met his sister Priya Dutt and told her that I absolutely loved her brother. She told me that he loves speaking Punjabi. And I said, ‘That’s it, I am going to make a film with him in Punjabi. I’ve come up with a great idea, now I need a Punjabi scriptwriter, so we can sit down and write it together.”
She also talked about how she is anticipating making films in Punjabi as compared to the ones that she has made earlier in English.
