Not everyone gets a chance to be a part of history, although you can create one. This upcoming Punjabi film seems to connect with both the facts. Titled ‘Mitti Na Pharol Jogiya’, this presentation of Ram Avtar Art Films is a historical drama which shows the impact of post Indo-Pak partition politics which had an impact on many families on both sides of the border. The film has been produced by Ram Sidhu and Avtar Singh is the personality behind the story, screenplay and direction. One of the lead actors Kartar Cheema is so excited about the film that he feels reincarnated as a human as well as an actor. Amann Grewal, Master Japtej Singh, Rupinder Rupi, Sanju Solanki, Razia Sukhbir, Damanpreet and Navdeep Kaler are among the other main actors of the film. The USP of the film is that it has been mentored by Bollywood director Anurag Basu who happens to be the driving force of director Avtar Singh Surjit Pattar and many other celebrities from Punjabi Industry like Rana Ranbir ,Kaur B, Nishawn Bhullar, Mehtab Virk and Pankaj Batra specially came for the premiere of the film.
Surjit Pattar is very happy with Avtar’s work and humbly says that he is very much connected to the film. He said, this is a clean and beautifully made film and everyone should watch this.”
The film is receiving warm welcome everywhere. People are really excited about the film and producer Ram Sidhu calls it an achievement. He said, “The warmth we are getting everywhere is driving us forward. People are eager to see a change in Punjabi cinema and we have tried really hard to bring that change with this film.” Nodding to this director Avtar Singh said, “Everyone welcomes change. I worked as a Production Head in Bollywood super hit Barfii! When I learnt to be conscious about pre-production from Anurag sir. We planned the film very consciously and getting the positivity
Young boy Japtej expressed how he enjoyed his first ever Punjabi film and could not even feel that the shoot had finished. He said, “I felt homely on the sets. Being the youngest, I was the most pampered actor and character. Since I am just a learner, this film gave me too much to note down in my acting lessons. During Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Rakeysh (Omprakash Mehra) sir and Farhan (Akhtar) sir were my mentors and this time I took notes from Anurag Basu sir and my director Avtar Singh sir. The situation sounds like a first standard school student learning from a top-grade university
Kartar Cheema said, “I thoroughly enjoyed acting in the film and wish we could stay for longer on the sets. The era we created was close to reality. We have literally lived history and want to create one. I bet audience will love this masterpiece as everyone has worked really hard. I thank the production house for choosing me for this film.”
Amann Grewal, the lead girl is enjoying this break from regular masala films. She said, “The film would certainly be a milestone in my career and it also made me learn newer things every day. It was totally a different experience working in this film. I did not face any kind of problem while doing this film, be it with my co-stars, producer or the director. I have literally lived my character. I think Punjabi cinema is looking forward to a new era of films where in a different set of stories will become the protagonist.”
