Happy Lohri!  Evergreen Punjabi songs to Pump up your playlist this Lohri

If there’s one thing Punjab is famous for, it’s the festival of Lohri and its big, flashy celebrations. And these celebrations are complete with good food and more importantly, good Music to dance on!

Here’s a rundown of our favorite songs ever to groove to this Lohri-

01. Sundar Mundriye- One of Punjab’s most popular traditional Folk songs, Sundar Mundariye is about the story of legendary Dulla Bhatti. Dula Bhatti was known as the ‘Robin Hood of Punjab’, who saved Sundri and Mundri from being abducted by others. The song is also special for newly married couples.

02. Sanu De Lohri- The song is all about newly wedded couples. Through this song, people around ask for Lohri for them. The song is all about celebrating and welcoming the couple to a new chapter of life. The song has been sung by Raj Ghuman who is known as the folk queen. Her beautiful voice makes it a great dance number for dancing with your loved ones.

03. Til Cholliye ni- Another song by the folk queen, Raj Ghuman, and composed by  Harjessh Bittu, the song is about the arrival of a newborn baby. The song is about worshipping and seeking blessings from elders and God for the newborn child and the parents.

04. Todde uppar Todda- The traditional Lohri song originated in Jammu. The song is sung by children when they go for Lohri to the neighbor’s place.

05. Massan Leya- Another Peppy Punjabi folklore Sung by Raj Ghuman and composed by Harjessh Bittu, the song is just like til cholliye ni, about a newborn’s arrival. The song is all about celebrating and dancing on the auspicious occasion and thanking god for the newborn.
