Although Punjabi cinema is known for churning superhit comic and romcom movies yet whenever a film on real societal issues has been made, the filmmakers here have always preferred Dev Kharoud over any other Punjabi hero to work in such films.
Whether it was Rupinder Gandhi 1 or 2 or Daakuan Da Munda, Dev Kharoud has always proved why he’s the first choice of filmmakers when it comes to doing intense and close-to-life roles.
All set to hit the Punjabi cinema screens on 3rd May, Dev Kharoud’s upcoming project is BLACKIA produced by none other than Vivek Ohri, the man behind films like Shareek, Jindua, Mel Karade Rabba, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya and many more Punjabi films. Joining him as a producer is Atul Ohri along with co-producers as Deepak Bali, Pranav Kapoor and Mahesh Sharma and associate producers as Sarab Pal Singh and Amrit Pal Singh and the film is being made under the banner of Ohri Productions. The film has been directed by Sukhminder Dhanjal. The story, screenplay and dialogues have been written by Inderpal Singh. Besides Dev Kharoud and Ihana Dhillon in the lead we will see Rana Jung Bahadur, Ashish Duggal, Arsh Hundal and Sanju Solanki also in the important roles. The film will be released worldwide by PTC Motion Pictures and Globe Moviez.
While the 42-second teaser of Blackia had already been released, the trailer of the same was released today. Watching the trailer one can say confidently that Dev Kharoud has yet again left no stone unturned to convince the audience about his superb acting skills.
Speaking to media about his role, Dev said, “It’s a role of a life-time for me as the story of this film is based on a very unique subject related to Indian history and something that most of our youth today wouldn’t even be aware of. It’s amazing to work in such a film.”
Producer Vivek Ohri said, “It was a challenge in itself to make a movie on a subject like the one we have, in Blackia. It’s based on the times when there was open border between India and Pakistan and lots of illegal trading happened across the border.”
Film’s heroine Ihana Dhillon remarked, “I feel blessed to work in a film that offers plenty of opportunity to learn and express your talent. The entire team was supportive to me and working with such talented team helped me grow as an actor too.”
The film has five songs in total for which the music has been prepared by non other than Jaidev, Desi Crew, Gurmeet Singh, KV Singh and Viney. The lyrics have been penned down by Gurbinder Maan, Gill Raunta and Jaggi Jaurkian. Karamjit Anmol, Heymant Sandhu, Mannat Noor and Gulrez Akhtar have lent their soulful and melodious voices to the songs.
