Visual entertainment has been almost everybody’s most pleasurable form of entertainment. Kinetic image holds the potential of captivating humans in a manner no other media can. The fact that this media has been so alluring ever since it came into existence quite naturally dilates the arena of the world of animated videos and movies.
Animated movies happen to be the best way of making the audience express their sentiments. Owing to this fact, the fame and success that was acquired by the unforgettable movie “Char Sahibzade” was absolutely unmatchable.
“Guru da Banda” is a spectacular film that comes in the same ilk of animated Punjabi movies. It talks about the man who has been known throughout history as Banda Singh Bahadur, the great Sikh warrior who, with his invincible valour and fearlessness, underwent a journey from being born as Lachman Dev to being baptised as Banda Singh Bahadur after being initiated into the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh.
All over the world, the Sikhs are looked upon as the scrupulousheroes, ardent pilgrims and devout agents in an unfailing service of their Wahe Guru. Since ages, they have stood up in a magisterial dignity in an effort to preserve the glory of their Gurus by their indomitable gallantry, virtue and intensity. They still happen to be the paragon of sincerity and fraternity to the rest of the world.
Just as many other Sikhs who have been individuals filled with aplomb and lion- heartedness, Banda Singh Bahadur, born as Lachman Dev on 27 October 1670, is known to have made history replete with his stories of fortitude and unselfishness.
One incident of his early age took place while he was hunting she deer in a forest. This significant event turned him into “Madho Das Bairagi” from Lachman Dev. At the age of 15, he left his house to practice puritanism. At the same time, he was visited by Shri Guru Gobind Singh who gave him the name “Banda Singh Bahadur” and he became “GURU DA BANDA”.
Guru Gobind Singh sent Banda Singh Bahadur to Punjab where he stood against the brutality of the misrulers. He worked for rights of people and humanity. In 1710, in the Battle of Chappar Chiri he killed Wazir Khan, the governor of Sirhind, who was the murderer of the two youngest sons of Guru Gobind Singh.
He also abolished the Zamindari system, and granted property rights to the tillers of land. He had shown uncomparable courage when his 4- year old son along with 40 Sikhs were tortured to death by Muslims. His son was killed and his heart was impeled into Baba Bahadurji’s mouth.
The movies in cinema are not just the stories of heroes, they are also the imagination of a person who is creating the past in the present.
