Expectations always hurt! this quote goes very well with the condition of the punjabi films of the year 2017.some films from which a lot was expected, could not perform well at box office..although the films from which a lot was not expected,did fairly well at box office..
So, here follows the list of movies which worked well and which failed to impress audience..
Surprise Hits;
*) Vekh Baraatan Chaliyan : Before it’s release no one expected it to be such a blockbuster hit. Binnu Dhillon played the character, which most people wanted to see him on screen. Kavita Kaushik played the role of Haryanvi Chori, which was appreciated by all. Ranjit Bawa also impressed audience with his hilarious reactions.
Above all Amrinder Gill’s cameo role as Haryanvi minister raised the level of movie to next level.
*) Rupinder Gandhi 2 :
Sequal of 2015’s hit ‘Rupinder Gandhi’ titled ‘Rupinder Gandhi 2 : The Robinhood’ turned out as surprise hit of 2017 with massive opening over box office. No one expected the over 1 crore opening day from this Flick.
Dev Kharoud, who now has huge fan following among youngster’s & Jagjeet Sandhu who is also known as Bhola their chemistry worked again on box office. Direction by Avtar singh & music of films is also appreciated by audience.
*) Rabb Da Radio :
Debut of Tarsem Jassar worked as magic on silver screen. Innocent look of ‘simi chahal’ also loved by every age group. Music of the film was also on top of the charts.
Top – Five :
*) Manje Bistre : Gippy Grewal-sonam Bajwa starrer this on marriage comedy made audience laugh on high note.
*) Lahoriye : Amrinder Gill-Sargun Mehta starrer rom-com was loved by every age group. Amberdeep Singh’s direction & Jatinder Shah’s music made this film as one of the biggest hit of 2017.
*) Nikka Zaildar 2 : This sequal kept the momentum same as it did in the first part. Audience liked Ammy Virk-Sonam Bajwa & Nirmal Rishi’s comedy.
*) Channa Mereya : Remake of Marathi Language ‘Sairaat’ in punjabi witnessed the debut of Ninja & Payal Rajput on silver screen. Even music of the film was also on top of the charts. Directed by none other than ‘Pankaj Batra’, couldn’t got massive success , specially loved by youngster’s.
*) Rocky Mental ; Parmish Verma who has huge fan following among youth , Film couldn’t be released on the dedicated release date due to censor which was the reason behind for not expected box office. But the charm of Parmish was at peak during it’s release.
Unsuccessful One’s : Sardar Saab : Jackie Shroff & Diljit Kalsi starrer this movie couldn’y get response from audience, as well as Binnu Dhillon – Prachi Tehlan starrer this flick couldn’t reach upto audience’ expectations. Saab Bhadur was also one of the most awaited film of 2017, but the result was same.
As year was close to finish ‘SSA England’ was the movie, which is expected to a massive hit, but failed to impress.
