Film educator and Founder of Showbizz Originals, Manmeet Singh, emphasized the need for greater inclusion and accessibility for persons with disabilities in the Indian film and media industry during Film Expo India 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam.
Speaking on the panel discussion titled “The Future and Scope of Work for Persons with Disabilities in the Film and Media Industry,” Manmeet Singh highlighted the importance of creating equal opportunities for persons with disabilities across both on-screen and behind-the-scenes roles.
He stressed that genuine inclusion requires more than representation. The industry must work towards providing accessible film education, adaptive post-production tools, disability-friendly production environments, and inclusive workplaces that allow talented individuals to participate and grow across every department of filmmaking.
“Cinema is a universal language, and talent knows no physical barriers. If we want our storytelling to be genuinely rich and empathetic, the industry must open its doors—both behind and in front of the camera—to persons with disabilities,” said Manmeet Singh.
Film Expo India 2026, an initiative organized by renowned actor Vindu Dara Singh, brought together film industry professionals, technology innovators, educators, policymakers, and creative professionals to discuss the evolving future of cinema and media.
The discussion concluded with a collective call for the industry to adopt accessible workspaces, progressive hiring policies, structured mentorship programmes, and stronger institutional support for persons with disabilities.
Manmeet Singh’s participation further highlighted the growing need for the entertainment industry to move towards a more inclusive ecosystem—one where opportunities are driven by talent, creativity, and potential rather than physical limitations.
