The much-anticipated trailer of the ZEE5 original web series, Sunflower 2, has been unveiled, and it promises a riveting rollercoaster ride of comedy, suspense, and mystery.
The first season of Sunflower was a black comedy crime thriller that revolved around a murder investigation in a middle-class housing society in Mumbai. The story began when Mr. Ahuja, a resident of the Sunflower Society, attempted to kill his troublesome neighbor, Raj Kapoor, by poisoning his coconut water. The quirky and questionable characters of the society, especially Sonu Singh, played by Sunil Grover, found themselves under the police radar⁹. The society members were seen trying to preserve the society’s culture from modern, forward-thinking youngsters.
The second season picks up from where the first left off, with police duo DG and Tambe, portrayed by Ranvir Shorey and Girish Kulkarni, continuing their relentless hunt for Mr. Kapoor’s murderer. The trailer hints at the return of India’s most beloved murder suspect, Ahuja’s confession, and the introduction of new characters.
The most exciting element of the upcoming season is introducing new characters. Adah Sharma, known for her work in “The Kerala Story,” joins the crime comedy series with a mysterious character, Rosie. Rosie, a captivating bar dancer who inherits Kapoor’s penthouse, brings further scrutiny and focus to the case. As the story progresses, love and romance will flourish between Sonu and Rosie.
Sunil Grover, reprising his role as Sonu Singh, expressed his excitement for the new season, stating, “Sunflower Season 2 has more suspense, filled with thrill and laughter while introducing complex characters. I particularly enjoy playing such multilayered characters as it allows me to explore the character a lot more. The aim was to keep this season light-hearted while adding that layer of intrigue and mystery.”
With new characters, suspects, and a rollercoaster of emotions, Sunflower Season 2 promises to deliver a fresh sequel filled with suspense, intrigue, and unexpected twists. The series will start streaming on ZEE5 from March 1, 2024. So, buckle up for a thrilling ride into the intriguing world of Sunflower!
