Ho Ho Ho, this time of the year is definitely merry for Jackky Bhagnani. Santa brings a sweet present for him on his birthday today. His home production film Sarabjit has made it to the long list of 336 feature films eligible for the upcoming 89th Oscars. The film is a biopic on Sarabjit Singh, an Indian farmer who was convicted of terrorism and spying in Pakistan and was sentenced to death. He was attacked by inmates at a prison in Lahore in April 2013 and died a few days later.
Sarabjit is nominated in the best foreign language category along with M.S. Dhoni this year. The final nominations will be announced on 24 January and the big night will be on 26 February. This is Jacky’s first film as a producer and is shortlisted for the Oscars in the feature film category alongside Hollywood films like La La Land and Moonlight and Manchester by the Sea. The whole team of ‘Sarbjit’ has worked very hard on the project and we hope it makes its way to the final list as well.
His next home production in association with ‘ Purple Pebble Pictures ‘titled ‘ Sarvann ‘ is scheduled for 13 January 2017.
